Kentucky star F PJ Washington dealing with injury ahead of NCAA Tournament opener
The Kentucky Wildcats are set to tip off their 2019 NCAA Tournament run on Thursday against No. 15 seed Abilene Christian.
As the No. 2 seed, the Wildcats are heavy favorites against the Southland Conference champions, but now they have some concerning news to deal with.
According to a statement from the school, star big man PJ Washington has been in walking boot since Sunday. They say it’s just for precautionary reasons, but it’s still concerning:
From UK on PJ Washington: "PJ has been in a boot since Sunday for precautionary reasons. Any other updates we will have on site tomorrow in Jacksonville."

Considering fellow big man Reid Travis is also dealing with an injury, this is not great news.
The Wildcats should be able to get by without Washington (if that’s what is needed) against Abilene Christian, but the road to the Final Four gets much tougher from there.
