The Kentucky Wildcats have yet to commit a turnover two games into the 2014 season, and they must continue that streak tonight against the Florida Gators if they hope to snap their 27-game losing streak to UF.

The Gators forced five turnovers last week in a 65-0 win over Eastern Michigan, including four fumble recoveries. The Cats must hang on to the football to keep Kurt Roper’s Florida offense from benefiting from a short field, and it must be especially careful with the football in the red zone to avoid costing itself points against a stout Florida defense.

The Gators have yet to allow their opponents to score a single point this season, and allowed just seven points to Kentucky in last season’s matchup in Lexington. The Cats will have only a few chances at putting points on the board against the Gators, and turnovers could cut that number down even further.

Kentucky only turned the ball over once last season against Florida, and the Gators turned it into three points in a 17-point win. The Cats have already proven they’re more talented than last year’s squad, and if it can avoid giving away the football it can hang around on the scoreboard well into the second half.

Protecting the football is easier said than done against a fierce Will Muschamp defense, but if Kentucky can play smart and safe with the football it could shock the college football world Saturday night in the Swamp.
