The Kentucky Wildcats (5-5, 2-5 SEC) suffered a 63-31 loss to No. 20 Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2) on Saturday. The Bulldogs held a 543-353 advantage in total yards and went 8-of-8 on third down attempts.

Quarterback Patrick Towles threw for 139 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 16-of-30 passing. He added 60 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts.

But the Wildcats were dominated by a strong Georgia running game, led by Nick Chubb. Chubb had 170 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Sony Michel added 84 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Here are a couple of thoughts on the game:

What it means: After a 5-1 start, Kentucky is in serious danger of missing a bowl game. The Wildcats are stuck in a four-game losing streak and have two upcoming road matchups against rival teams. Kentucky’s defense looked incapable of stopping Georgia’s offense and were outmatched across the board.

What I liked: Stanley “Boom” Williams had a solid rushing performance. Williams recorded 100 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Williams longest run was a 56-yard score in the second quarter.

What I didn’t like: Defense. Kentucky allowed 306 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries. The Bulldogs averaged 7.4 yards per carry. Hutson Mason threw a career best four touchdowns, including two to Chris Conley and Jeb Blazevich respectively.

Who’s the man: Boom Williams. After making his first start last week, Williams looked impressive with a solid performance at tailback. The true freshman should continue his progress moving forward and mature into a solid SEC running back.

Key Play: Kentucky allowed Georgia to return its opening kickoff 90 yards to jump ahead 7-0. It was an ominous sign of things to come as both teams struggled on special teams, including several fumbles and missed opportunities. The play gave the Bulldogs an early advantage that was held throughout the contest as Georgia scored 21 points before Kentucky found the end zone.

What’s next: Kentucky will face Tennessee (4-5, 1-4 SEC) at Neyland Stadium next Saturday.
