While many are preoccupied with the Super Bowl matchup between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons, the Maryland football program was busy making moves.

Kentucky DL Coach Jimmy Brumbaugh has decided to leave Lexington in favor of taking the Co-Defensive Coordinator/defensive line coach positions at Maryland, according to a report from 247Sports.

Brumbaugh had been at Kentucky since 2013. During this time, four Wildcats (C.J. Johnson, Bud Dupree, Za’Darius Smith, and Donte Rumph had garnered all-conference honors.

Much of Brumbaugh’s coaching career has been within the Southeast region. As such, Maryland is surely making a play to extend its recruiting footprint to these talent-rich areas.

With Brumbaugh gone, head coach Mark Stoops will now need to find a quality replacement.
