Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops has not been shy in sharing his stance on the SEC’s misinterpreted dominance in recent years, but we can assume that since 2013 he’s made an exception for younger brother Mark Stoops, now entering his third year as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

After all, UK was certainly not contributing much to that era of dominance by the SEC.

But now Bob is venturing into the southeast for a highly regarded quarterback prospect, one that Kentucky and Mark have already been pursuing. Needless to say, things may be about to get interesting on the recruiting trail for the Stoops brothers.

Kendall, a North Carolina native, is regarded as a four-star quarterback and the No. 8 pro-style quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

New Kentucky offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has been trying to woo Kendall to Lexington since he took the job left vacant by former OC Neal Brown, now the head coach at Troy. But with the other Stoops brother now in the mix, UK will have to compete against a storied program and a head coach with a national title already on his resumé.

Still, if anyone knows Bob’s sales pitches or how to promote a growing program not known for football excellence, it’s Mark. His program had the head-start in chasing Kendall, and for now the Wildcats are still the frontrunner.

Of course, that could change in 10 minutes, then again in 10 days and another dozen times between now and National Signing Day. Which is why the next 10 months should be exciting (and maybe a bit awkward) for two of the finest head coaches in the land, who just happen to be as close as any two coaches in America.
