After two big wins to start the season, LSU is quickly rising up the polls. The Tigers now sit firmly inside the top 10 of both the AP and Coaches Poll entering Week 4 of the college football season after beating Miami on a neutral field and Auburn on the road in a hostile Jordan-Hare Stadium during the first three weeks of the season.

However, the momentum surrounding Ed Orgeron’s program extends well beyond the gridiron at the moment, as LSU’s recruiting efforts have been helped following the great start to the season.

If you missed it earlier on Monday, the Tigers landed a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy for the 2020 recruiting cycle and judging by what Orgeron said during his weekly Monday afternoon press conference, that pledge could be the first of many coming the Tigers’ way in the near future.

While it’s not legal by NCAA rules for Orgeron to comment on Roy’s commitment to LSU or any other prospect for that matter — until they have signed scholarship papers, Orgeron noted how well his weekly phone calls to recruits went this weekend.

“It was fun on the phone last night, let me tell you that. We call our guys once a week. There was a lot of energy in the room. A lot of guys are excited. There’s a big wave of emotion in recruiting right now,” Orgeron said coming off the big win at Auburn. “It’s a fight to the end and we need to finish.”

LSU’s 19 commitments for the 2019 recruiting cycle rank as the nation’s No. 7 overall class, fourth-best in the SEC with the Tigers holding pledges from four 2020 recruits at this time. If things continue to go LSU’s way on the field, expect all those numbers to trend upwards before National Signing Day.
