Former LSU defensive back Jalen Mills agreed to terms with the New England Patriots on a 1-year deal worth up to $6.1 million Wednesday, locking him down for a 3rd year in Boston.

Mills is entering his 8th year in the NFL and has remained a steady option at corner since. He played just 10 games last season but was on track for one of his best years yet, totaling 5 pass deflections and 2 interceptions with 31 tackles.

Prior to New England, Mills played 5 seasons with the Eagles. He was an important member of the 2017-18 Super Bowl team, totaling 5 pass deflections and 13 tackles in the playoffs alone that season.

Mills was was 7th round draft pick in the 2016 draft to the Eagles. He played 4 seasons in Baton Rouge and was a freshman All-American with the Tigers in 2012. He would have been drafted higher had he not suffered an ankle injury in preseason camp before his senior year, an injury that kept him off the field for 5 games.
