Currently, Kansas (yes, Kansas) has the No. 4 overall 2018 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

That ranking is thanks in large part to an influx of talent from the state of Louisiana, where the Jayhawks’ top-six 2018 commits (including three 4-star players) call home.

The man behind what is already the Jayhawks’ best recruiting cycle in years is associate head coach Tony Hull, who also coaches the running backs for David Beaty’s staff.

However, after making $150,000 last year, Hull will see his salary spike to $400,000 in 2017, according to KUSports.com.

Beaty released a statement on Twitter praising Hull and saying the big recruiting haul had a lot to do with the promotion:

Beaty’s statement on Hull’s promotion reads, “Tony’s recruiting prowess speaks for itself, but he is more than just a dynamic recruiter. Tony is a great football coach and his positive impact on this team is felt on a daily basis.”

Though the Jayhawks have a top 2018 class now, it’s important to note that it’s still early in the process. Recruits are notoriously flaky (as they have every right to be) when it comes to choosing where they’ll play in college.

If Kansas suffers through another 2-10 season in 2017, and if LSU shows improvement in coach Ed Orgeron’s first season at the helm, the exodus from Lawrence could be massive, which would call Hull’s salary increase into question.

At the moment, though, he’s doing a heck of a job and has the Jayhawks on the verge of an impressive 2018 recruiting haul.
