It’s good to be Leonard Fournette, isn’t it?

All eyes have been on the former LSU running back his entire high school and college career, and now, as he moves onto the NFL, eyeballs and expectations will only increase.

Fournette will sign a lucrative endorsement deal with Under Armour Wednesday, ESPN’s Darren Rovell reports. Although Rovell didn’t provide any figures in his report, the deal is said to be “one of the most valuable endorsement contracts ever for an NFL rookie.”

“We have a roster of athletes that we choose and we’re never going to be that company that just collects athletes just to have the most,” said Ryan Kuehl, the company’s vice president of sports marketing told Rovell. “We look for special people, who have the talent, the character, the story and the sense of purpose. Leonard Fournette fits that model.”

LSU is a Nike school, but Fournette wore Under Armour in high school; so, he’s familiar with the apparel company.

“I’ve always had a great relationship with Under Armour and it means a lot that a company wants me to wear their product and that I’m good enough to represent them,” said Fournette in the report.

Fournette released a tweet of his excitement to join Under Armour.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports represents Fournette, and he’s largely projected as a top 10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Michael Yormark, president and chief of strategy and branding at Roc Nation, told Rovell “financially it fit the characterization of ‘historic.'”

With the success of Dallas’ Ezekiel Elliott this season, it’s helped make Fournette’s value remain high, even in recent history where running backs haven’t provided much value to teams in the first round. Fournette struggled with an ankle injury during the 2016 season and sat out his team’s bowl game, creating buzz around college football for doing so.

There was similar buzz surrounding former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney in college and entering the NFL Draft. Obviously, Clowney was the No. 1 overall pick; so, that naturally comes with more scrutiny. However, Clowney delivered a nice season in Houston this year, finally showing flashes of what the Texans had hoped for when they drafted him. It’s amazing what a player can do when he’s healthy.

There’s no doubt about it: Fournette is that caliber of athlete and could have a huge impact as a running back in the NFL. It will certainly be interesting to see how Fournette’s career pans out over the next five to eight years.
