Michigan has a high-profile coaching vacancy, and a high-profile alumnus in Les Miles that is rumored to be attached to the job every time it comes open. On Tuesday, a report came out saying that Michigan has reached out to Miles’ agent to gauge interest.

The report, from GoWolverineBlue, only stated that Michigan has contacted Miles’ agent, with talks going no further than the initial contact. It comes on the heels of a a report earlier in the day that Michigan had also contacted Duke coach David Cutcliffe.

It’s worth nothing that it seems this may just be smoke, as LSU beat writer Glenn Guilbeau had a source refute the report.

Additionally, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva told Ross Dellenger of the Advocate (Baton Rouge, La.) that he hasn’t been contacted by anyone about Miles.

Miles seems to be in a better spot at LSU. His $4.3 million salary this season is $1.5 million more than what Michigan was paying former coach Brady Hoke, while he also has one of the largest staff salary pools in the country. Miles has given no public indication of interest in the job, and has reportedly told a recruit he’s not leaving.
