Following Tuesday’s practice, LSU head coach Les Miles said Brandon Harris is “certainly” the leader at quarterback.

“Right now Brandon Harris certainly has the lead,” Miles said. “We’ll do what we’ve done. We promise to field one. We like both of our guys. Brandon Harris certainly is the leader.”

Miles went on to explain why Harris was leading fellow quarterback Anthony Jennings.

“His deportment, the things he does before he hands the ball off or throws the ball,” Miles said. “Understanding exactly what’s going on, putting us in motion, doing the things quarterbacks need to do to facilitate the other 10 players.

“The development of the quarterback is certainly going to be important in every game. It’s never going to be by mop-up duty but how you lead the team and those things you are asked to to to start the game and secure victory. That will be the key pieces to who our quarterback is.”

With LSU’s first game a mere 10 days away, it wouldn’t be surprising if Miles pulled the trigger and named Harris the starter very soon.
