Les Miles is taking up for his superstar running back.

The LSU coach said Monday he sent several clips from Saturday’s win over Florida in to the SEC office, claiming Leonard Fournette was hit several times after the whistle against the Gators.

“We’ve turned in a number of clips,” Miles said, according to NOLA.com. “It was good open dialogue. I have not — was very busy this morning, did not get to the call. It will be on me. I will see if I can get in touch with him in the next couple of hours or maybe tomorrow.”

Miles’ admission comes less than 48 hours after Fournette alluded to being poked in the eye by a Florida defender under a pile.

Many of Fournette’s 180 yards rushing came after contact, but Miles didn’t feel SEC officials did a good enough job of blowing plays dead when they should’ve been.

“When they start taking him backwards, that’s it,” Miles said. “He’s reached his forward progress and got a nice spot. Let’s not get him hurt, taking him backwards. I want to look into that. I’m not trying to get a call; I just want to take care of my player.”

Two of the league’s most physical teams battled it out until the bitter end and Fournette labeled the contest a “street fight” along with Miles.
