Big news out of Baton Rouge Wednesday as LSU head coach Ed Orgeron has announced that junior linebacker Arden Key will be taking a leave from the football program.

“In consultation with our staff and his family, Arden Key has decided to take some time away from football for personal reasons,” Orgeron said via statement. “We fully support Arden in his decision and look forward to welcoming him back home to the Tiger family at the appropriate time.”

At this time, there is no timetable for Key’s return. Key had 12 sacks and 55 total tackles last season in his first year under new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. For what it’s worth, Key was suspended for the regular season finale against Texas A&M last season.

In a recent article by Pro Football Focus, Key was rated as the SEC’s No. 1 returning player for 2017.
