One could argue that Les Miles gets an unfair reputation when it comes to disciplinary matters. One could also argue that it’s nobody’s fault but his own.

Recent months have been especially turbulent for the Tigers on the legal front. Four players were arrested in two separate incidents on June 18, and though charges were eventually dropped against three, the details in the police report were not encouraging for those with a rooting interest in the LSU football program.

The team announced that it reinstated all three, including defensive lineman Maquedius Bain. But Bain transferred days later, and Miles insisted to the media that Bain never had been reinstated.

An additional public relations hit came last week when Miles announced he was reinstating Jevonte Domond despite the pending domestic abuse charges still hanging over the junior offensive lineman. The announcement coincided with the start of fall practice.

This marks the third consecutive season where a LSU player with pending charges and an offseason suspension was reinstated at the open of fall camp. Though, it should be noted, Jeremy Hill did not play in the 2013 season opener against TCU after being reinstated when Miles notoriously left the matter up to a team vote.

So is a lack of consequences an ongoing issue at LSU, or is this a matter of a few high-profile cases unfairly shaping public perception?

We looked back at the last four-plus years of arrests and the ensuing punishments under Les Miles. You can draw your own conclusions from our results.
