LSU experienced a slight slip, entering Wednesday with the No. 1-ranked class by 247Sports composite rankings, but falling to No. 3. The flip of four-star LB Erick Fowler to Texas dinged LSU’s ranking, and other schools experienced bigger boosts with the addition of uncommitted prospects. By late afternoon, LSU appears to still be waiting on the signed letter from three-star WR commit Da’Monte Coxie to complete its class of 24.

Despite the minor slide, the Tigers are in great shape moving forward, adding depth on both sides of the ball in what’s already being called a reloading year for Miles’ squad.

MILES DRAMA NOW A DISTANT MEMORY

Outsiders might have expected the very public saga involving Les Miles’ job status to have a negative impact on recruiting, but the Tigers have finished with a highly rated class. Recruits clearly trust that Miles will be around to be their coach for the next four years, and those ready to contribute as freshmen could help with his job security by making an impact in 2016.

DBU BEATS OUT THE OTHER DBU

One of LSU’s big signing day battles was for five-star CB Kristian Fulton. The Tigers went up against Florida and Arkansas for Fulton’s pledge. UF and LSU players and fans have sparred on social media over which school deserves the title of DBU (Defensive Back University). Fulton visited both schools and seems to think the title belongs to the Bayou Bengals, donning the LSU hat in his announcement ceremony.

With four-star early enrollee CB Saivion Smith, four-star CB signee Andraez Williams and Fulton all in the same secondary, SEC West quarterbacks are going to have a tough time throwing on the Tigers.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

LSU needed to sign a quarterback in this cycle, and three-star dual threat QB Lindsey Scott fills that need. Scott committed on Sunday, late in the cycle, but signed and officially became a Tiger on Wednesday. Scott had a total of 18 offers.
