LSU paid its assistants better than any school in the country in 2014, and the school is reportedly looking to bring the group back intact next season.

According to a report from Ross Dellenger of the Advocate (Baton Rouge, La.), LSU is working to extend five assistants whose contracts expire in March. The coaches set to expire are Frank Wilson (running backs/recruiting coordinator), Adam Henry (receivers), Steve Ensminger (tight ends), Corey Raymond (defensive backs) and Brick Haley (defensive line).

For the second straight season, LSU had the highest paid staff in the country, with the assistants making a combined $5.49 million, per USA Today’s coaching salaries database. That includes offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and defensive coordinator John Chavis ($1.3 million each) being tied for third nationally in assistant salaries. No other team in the nation has two coaches making more than $1 million each or two coaches in the top 10 of assistant salaries.

Earlier this season, USA Today released its head coach salary database. Les Miles has the seventh-highest salary in the country at $4.3 million, bringing the total football coaching bill to about $9.8 million.

With that kind of money being thrown around, life is good as an LSU coach.
