It looks like at least some of the dirty laundry from last month’s Les Miles saga will be aired publicly.

The LSU administration ultimately decided to retain the championship-winning coach in spite of a three-game losing streak after beginning the season 7-0, but based on the emails obtained by WVUE in New Orleans, things weren’t always smelling like roses for Miles.

There were nearly 2,000 emails released, which highlighted discussions between athletics director Joe Alleva and several key board members, as well as the university president.

Among debate about the coaching decision, there was also chatter about a potential leak within the organization.

The emails did seemingly confirm that the decision for Miles to remain the head coach was made prior to the win against Texas A&M on Nov. 28:

Five hours before LSU kicked off against Texas A&M on Nov. 28, the athletic department started working on a press release, announcing Miles would stay on as head coach.

At 12:31 that afternoon, an employee in the school’s sports information department emailed athletics director Joe Alleva with a first draft of a release, saying, “Les Miles will remain the football coach at LSU.”

Alleva responded an hour later with a change, asking them to add that “adjustments to our team” were needed, and he and Miles had talked about it.
