LSU S Grant Delpit tweets that he'll have surgery following injury suffered during spring game
Suffering an injury in a spring game is the nightmare of all coaches, and that’s what happened to coach Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers on Saturday.
Key S Grant Delpit suffered a shoulder injury, and had to leave the game. Considering Delpit played in all 13 games as a true freshman last year, recording 60 tackles, one interception and eight pass breakups, that’s a big loss.
On Sunday afternoon, The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger reported that Delpit suffered a broken left collarbone:
#LSU safety Grant Delpit suffered a broken left collarbone, per source. Normally a six week recovery after surgery.
Better that than a rotator cuff issue.

Delpit confirmed on his Twitter account that he’d have surgery on the injury on Monday:
I appreciate all of the support & well wishes! Surgery tomorrow, I’ll be back soon ready to work!

The six-week recovery time is good news for the Tigers, who are entering their post-spring break. He’ll likely be ready to go for the summer, and they’ll need him at the back of their defense this fall.
