LSU says suspension of star LB Devin White for first half against Alabama will stand
The LSU Tigers lost star LB Devin White to a controversial targeting penalty in the fourth quarter of last weekend’s Mississippi State win. That means White will miss the first half in two weeks against Alabama.
After the game, AD Joe Alleva got on the phone with the SEC offices to lobby for the suspension to be overturned, but it appears those efforts didn’t work.
According to senior associate AD Robert Munson, there is no process for appeal and the school understands that the suspension will stand:
On the Devin White situation, #LSU senior associate athletic director @RobertJMunson said:
"Discussions with the SEC made clear there is no process for appeal. The suspension will stand." #LSU

Obviously, that’s a tough loss for the Tigers, as White is one of the nation’s best linebackers. However, he’ll be able to play in the second half, so LSU just needs to keep things close through the first 30 minutes.
Fans still aren’t happy about the suspension, though, and are actually raising money to put billboards up in Birmingham.
