After he led the SEC with 1,387 rushing yards in 2016, LSU RB Derrius Guice won’t catch many teams by surprise this fall.

However, that doesn’t mean he won’t be just as effective, as the junior has proven he’s one of the best backs in the entire country.

In fact, according to NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah, Guice’s style, while different from former LSU star RB Leonard Fournette, is reminiscent of NFL legends like LaDainian Tomlinson and Frank Gore:

“He’s an explosive runner with excellent balance and a tenacious style,” Jeremiah wrote. “He isn’t quite as powerful as his former teammate Fournette, but he has a little more wiggle and elusiveness. I see a little bit of LaDainian Tomlinson in his running style, but he really reminds me of a young Frank Gore. He’s a tough guy to get on the ground.”

Obviously, Guice has a long way to go before he’s on the same level as Tomlinson and Gore, but if he can lead the SEC in rushing yards again, he could follow in Fournette’s footsteps as one of the first players selected in the NFL Draft.
