Report: LSU targeting NFL OL coach to replace outgoing Jeff Grimes
On Wednesday night, news broke that BYU was expected to hire LSU OL coach Jeff Grimes to fill its open offensive coordinator role.
That would leave the Tigers with an opening to fill, but according to a recent report, they plan to act quickly when making a new hire.
According to reporter Bruce Feldman, the Tigers are expecting to hire James Cregg, the Los Angeles Chargers’ current assistant offensive line coach:
SOURCE: #LSU plans on hiring James Cregg from the LA Chargers to be the Tigers new O-line coach, replacing Jeff Grimes (new #BYU OC).. Cregg won a Super Bowl with the Broncos as an assistant & helped develop 1st RDers Tyron Smith and Matt Kalil, & has recruited in the SEC.

Cregg has served in the past as Tennessee’s offensive line coach and won a Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos’ staff a couple of years ago.
Of course, nothing is official until Cregg is actually signed, and it remains to be seen how long it will take the Tigers to get a deal done, especially since the Chargers are still in the middle of their season.
