Saturday was a big day for the Head Ball Coach.

Steve Spurrier returned to Florida, where the playing surface at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium became Steve Spurrier-Florida Field.

But, while waiting for the Gators to kick off against UMass, Spurrier couldn’t resist the urge to see what else was going on in the college football world.

According to an ESPN.com article, Spurrier was checking SEC scores before he was honored at Florida and was puzzled by LSU’s lack of offensive firepower:

“Why can LSU not get it right on offense? Every year, they have as much talent as anybody in the SEC, and that’s including Alabama,” Spurrier said.

The Tigers, despite having Heisman Trophy candidate Leonard Fournette at running back, only scored 14 points in a 16-14 loss to Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. Seven of those points came on a pick-six by DB Tre’Davious White.

As confused as Spurrier is by LSU’s stagnant offense, it’s probably safe to say that LSU coach Les Miles is even more confused.

LSU gets a chance to rebound this weekend against Jacksonville State, but of course, a rebound won’t really matter until SEC play starts against Mississippi State on Saturday, Sept. 17.
