LSU offered a touching tribute to the three police officers who were killed in a shooting Sunday in Baton Rouge.

On Wednesday night, the stadium was lit blue to honor the East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputy and the two Baton Rouge police officers who died. The Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans also have gone blue to honor police.

On Wednesday, Les Miles took the opportunity at the Louisiana High School Coaches Association meeting to address the tragic events, according to a release from the university.

“My emotions are worn on my sleeve,” Miles said. “I think we need to connect on family and we need to agree that violence is never an agent for change, not in today’s society. We have a way to affect change that doesn’t require violence.

“The men that were lost this past week were giants. They were community servants. I was fortunate to be around and watch real leadership. Watch our sheriff, colonel, mayor, and our governor especially, do the right thing for our community.”

Nice move, LSU.
