Playing quarterback in the SEC isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination. Playing on the road in the SEC is a whole other animal.

From the rabid fans to the talent of the opposing team, it is quite the task to perform well and lead your team to a victory on Saturday. This week, the quarterback with the toughest task has to be LSU’s Anthony Jennings. Everyone knows how hard it is to win in Baton Rouge, and it is very hard. However, the way that the Ole Miss defense has played this year, I would not want to be Mr. Jennings this weekend, even if I’m at home.

We all saw the dominating performance that LSU had last week at home against Kentucky, but Ole Miss is not Kentucky. Not this year. While I will never ridicule a quarterback in this league, I will say that Jennings has been struggling at times this year. I realize he is surrounded by a very young team, but he still has to produce a little more for LSU to be in the top of the West.

Watching Ole Miss play in just about every game this year, you can see how fast and physical that D is. Led by the only returning All-American in the SEC on defense, Cody Pruitt, Ole Miss has been knocking heads off all year. They are creating turnovers at a ridiculous rate, and they’re shutting down offenses.

Look at what they did to Texas A&M in front of more than 110,000 on the road. If that doesn’t tell you a little somethin’ somethin’ about this defense, then maybe you should pay a little more attention. I think the Aggies offense is just a tad bit more potent than the LSU offense, but again, that’s just my opinion.

I fully except Ole Miss to come out of there with a win and continue this awesome season they are having. I will always hope that every quarterback plays well and gives his team a shot, but I think Mr. Jennings has the toughest task this weekend vs. that stingy Ole Miss defense.
