Ohio State graduate transfer QB Joe Burrow was one of the most sought-after transfers this offseason, eventually ending up at LSU.

Simply put, he wasn’t going to have much of an opportunity to play with the Buckeyes, as Dwayne Haskins has already been named the teams starter.

However, Urban Meyer said on Friday that he’ll always consider Burrow a Buckeye, adding that he hopes his former player does well at LSU (via 247Sports):

“It was good,” Meyer said of his conversations with Burrow coming out of spring practice. “It was a situation that his last two weeks of spring were excellent. I just talked to him the other day and his family, I saw his dad. He’s great. He’s a Buckeye forever and he’s going to go do the best he can at LSU and wish him well and I understand.”

Burrow has a good chance of landing the starting job at LSU, especially as none of the Tigers’ current quarterbacks have made a compelling case for the gig this offseason.

Whatever happens, Meyer will keep an eye on the Tigers and root for Burrow to put up some big numbers.
