Head coach Dan Mullen and MSU will try to get back on track following a blowout loss to Georgia.

Georgia dominated MSU all night, and Mullen and company managed just three points in the 31-3 defeat. MSU will have to make adjustments quickly as they turn around and take on No. 13 Auburn on the road this week.

Mullen had his press conference Monday, and he does not understand how certain people see the SEC as “down” this season:

“I don’t know where they come up with the SEC being down,” said Mullen “When we’re playing three conference games games against top 15 teams in consecutive weeks, two of them on the road.”

It will be a tough task for the Bulldogs as they take on another great defense after playing Georgia in Athens. Mullen acknowledged the Tigers defense presents an incredible challenge for MSU this week.

“Defensively, they’re one of the top defenses in the country,” said Mullen. “They’ve played different styles of team and dominated the defensive side of the ball, pretty much everybody that they’ve played. A great challenge for us to come off last week’s game…a great opportunity to try and get a win over a top 15 team on the road.”

Mullen also sees this week as a chance for the Bulldogs to improve their mental toughness after a tough loss.

“Now this week, everybody’s telling them how bad they are, and they still have all these different issues and problems going on,” Mullen explained. “The key to it is to have a great mental toughness to deal with all the noise that’s around…and, when you get here, focus on football so you can play at a high level.”

The Bulldogs are certainly in a rough stretch with an opportunity to show their toughness in the SEC. Kickoff at Auburn is set for 6 pm EST on ESPN.
