Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen got caught in the media crosshairs Tuesday at SEC Media Days regarding his top signee Jeffery Simmons.

However, Mullen had some positive news in his back pocket regarding Simmons, but he chose not to use it, according to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

A source told Dodd that Simmons helped change a flat tire for three women over the weekend, but the source added, “It wouldn’t have played today.”

It’s been well publicized that Simmons, a five-star signee, has been suspended for just one game and will attend counseling after a public video of him punching a woman surfaced.

In the end, Mullen chose not to share the positive weekend news regarding Simmons.
