Though Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald was effective through the air on Saturday afternoon in the Egg Bowl, with three of his eight completions going for touchdowns, the Bulldogs were much better when they ran.

Fitzgerald ran 14 times for a whopping 258 yards and two scores and RB Aeris Williams added 191 yards and two more scores on 25 carries.

The Bulldogs tore through the Ole Miss defense to the tune of 9.7 yards per carry, shattering a school record set in 1941:

Fitzgerald, Williams and the Bulldogs amassed a grand total of 457 yards on only 47 carries.

Ole Miss has a lot of defensive problems, all of which were exposed in the 55-20 Egg Bowl loss, but Mississippi State’s rushing attack is still something to be reckoned with.
