In Dan Mullen’s hunt to replace Dak Prescott at the quarterback position, one name can be crossed off the list.

MSU signal-caller Elijah Staley announced on Twitter that he’ll leave Starkville in order to play at Tyler Junior College. As is the case for many player in search of play time, the redshirt sophomore will hope to have a big upcoming season — with the possibility of transferring back to a major program.

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound Marietta, Ga. native played in two games last season for the Bulldogs. Staley accrued 51 passing yards and one touchdown toss, and 18 rushing yards on three carries.
