Mississippi State sophomore Nick Fitzgerald will be getting his first Egg Bowl experience as the team’s starting quarterback Saturday in Oxford.

In 11 starts this season, Fitzgerald has completed 55 percent of his attempts for 2,178 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His 985 yards rushing lead all SEC quarterbacks and his 12 scores on the ground are tied for first among all players in the league.

At 4-7 (2-5), Mississippi State’s bowl chances are slim to none even with a win. Either way, ending a two-game losing streak against rival Ole Miss would be a pretty solid way to enter the offseason.

The 109th edition of the Egg Bowl is set to begin Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on the SEC Network.
