Though Dak Prescott has been gone from Starkville for several months, his effect is still lingering.

The former Mississippi State quarterback’s quick ascent to NFL stardom is benefitting businesses near his alma mater, according to a report from The Clarion-Ledger. Local sports shops are struggling to keep Prescott’s jersey in stock, and the Buffalo Wild Wings in Starkville turns a huge profit during Dallas Cowboys games.

In fact, the newspaper reported that the Cowboys’ bye week may cost the restaurant $3,000 in revenue.

The Prescott hype is understandable. He finished his college career as the Bulldogs’ most prolific player and has led Dallas to a 5-1 record while breaking Tom Brady’s record for most passes without an interception to start a career.

MSU is also off to a 2-4 start this year, so Prescott gives Bulldogs fans something about which to cheer.
