According to a report from The Clarion Ledger, one Mississippi State football player had a bit too much fun on New Year’s Day.

Sophomore safety Brandon Bryant was arrested in the state of Georgia on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain lane, and also possession of an open container. He was released on the same day he was arrested after posting the $1,600 bond.

Bryant had been one of the best defenders within the Mississippi State unit this past season. He was fourth on the team in tackles (62), and had also accrued one interception and two pass-breakups.

Head coach Dan Mullen had this to say about the incident:

“We were made aware of the incident on the morning of New Year’s Day. His discipline has been handled internally.”

Bryant’s “punishment” has not been divulged publicly. With that said, one can imagine Bryant enduring a bit more conditioning when compared to his teammates.
