Mississippi State’s season ended Thursday night at the hands of Louisville.

The Cardinals scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Bulldogs in the College World Series.

The heart and soul of MSU’s team is, of course, Jake Mangum. The latest in a ridiculously long line of accolades and awards was breaking the MSU season hit record with 108 against UL.

Following the loss, the SEC Network’s Kris Budden interviewed an emotional Mangum. Fighting back tears, he delivers an incredible tribute to his teammates and MSU fans, even calling baseball “a beautiful cruel game.”
