Joe Moorhead wants no part of shying from expectations.

Mississippi State’s coach is taking a unique approach to his first season in Starkville as his Bulldog team is loaded with enough talent to face any team the SEC has to offer, including Alabama. While many would caution a new coach from setting expectations high and others will simply snicker at the suggestion that MSU could rise to new heights following the departure of Dan Mullen, Moorhead is doing everything he can this offseason to raise expectations in Starkville.

To celebrate the countdown to 100 days until the Sept. 1 opener in Davis Wade Stadium against Stephen F. Austin, Mississippi State has released a video showing just how much Moorhead expects from his MSU program for the coming season.

“Mississippi State is no longer the little engine that could,” Moorhead says in the video. “If I didn’t come in here talking about winning the SEC, then Mr. Cohen hired the wrong guy. It’s okay to talk about it, we don’t have to whisper, ‘Maybe we can do it this year.’ Hell yeah we can do it this year! It’s good, I want people to talk about it. Some people say under-promise, over-deliver. I say no one rises to low expectations.”
