SEC underdog Mizzou, fresh off its second consecutive East championship and New Year’s Day bowl victory, comes in at No. 14 in today’s final AP Top 25 after being picked to finish fourth in their own division before the season.

Gary Pinkel was named the SEC’s coach of the year after directing the Tigers to three wins over nationally-ranked teams and leading one of the league’s most harassing defenses — featuring league player of the year Shane Ray — throughout the season.

The Tigers (11-3) have won 23 games over the last two years, tied for most in the SEC with Alabama.

Mizzou’s one of six SEC teams ranked, headlined by league champ Alabama at No. 4.
