After losing star DE Charles Harris to the 2017 NFL Draft, the Missouri Tigers targeted the defensive line heavily during the past recruiting cycle.

They added plenty of experience in the form of four JUCO linemen, but on Thursday, the Tigers got some bad news about DT Malik Young.

According to STLToday.com, Young has been ruled academically ineligible to play at Mizzou this fall:

“Yesterday we got final confirmation from the NCAA that we’re going to help him go somewhere else,” Odom said. “He won’t meet the qualifications to get here. Hate it for him because he’s been patient and done a really good job to get everything worked out. … He’s got a lot of options. He’s not going to look long for a place to go because he’s such a good person and a high-level player.”

According to the 247Sports composite, Young was the No. 6 JUCO defensive tackle in the class of 2017 and the No. 8 overall JUCO prospect from the state of Georgia.

He spent the 2016 season at Eastern Arizona College, playing for the Monsters.
