Not much has gone right for Missouri since it’s season-opening win over Missouri State.

In light of the dismal performances of the last two weeks in losses against South Carolina and Purdue, the Tigers held a players-only meeting, tight end Jason Reese told reporters on Tuesday.

Missouri’s offense was expected to be among the best in the SEC, but quarterback Drew Lock went from completing 62 percent of passes against Missouri State, to less than 45 percent in each of the next two games. Against Purdue, the Tigers rushed for just 70 yards in the 35-3 loss. Damarea Crockett alone rushed for just 19 yards.

Among the myriad of issues facing the Tigers, leadership from upperclassmen has already been called into question. Odom also told reporters that Lock needs to show improvement and Odom admitted that he needs to simplify game plans on defense. Already this season, the defensive-minded Odom fired defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross.

Missouri is facing a daunting task to reach bowl eligibility as the Tigers will need to win at least three SEC games, something it hasn’t done since 2014. They get their next chance on Saturday when they host Auburn.
