Missouri lost a dynamic player on offense on Wednesday.

According to Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com, wide receiver/returner Richaud Floyd broke his right leg at practice on Wednesday. He is expected to be out 4-6 weeks, meaning he’ll miss the Tigers’ season opener against UT Martin on Sept. 1.

Floyd is a redshirt junior who played 13 games for Missouri last season, totaling 14 receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned two punts for touchdowns, despite only having 11 total punt returns.

Entering this season, Floyd was listed as the No. 2 option at slot receiver and was expected to contribute heavily to the return game.

If the initial prognosis is correct, the earliest that Floyd could return is for the Week 3 matchup against Purdue on Sept. 15. However, it could be later, or the timetable could change as his recovery progresses.

This injury news comes only three days after the Tigers found out that a knee injury will sideline freshman tight end Messiah Swinson for the entire season.

Luckily for Missouri, it should get Floyd back before the first month of the season is over.
