Missouri could have broken an NCAA Tournament record for the SEC Friday night, but the Tigers simply couldn’t handle the Seminoles. The SEC ended up tying its own record with six NCAA first-round wins.

The Noles hammered the Tigers 67-54 and sent Mizzou packing in the first round.

FSU jumped out to a big 42-20 halftime lead, and Missouri never could catch up, despite starting the second half on 10-1 run. At one point, Mizzou cut the Noles’ lead to 50-44 with just under 10 minutes to play, but that was as close as it got. Florida State finished the game strong.

FSU doesn’t have a prolific scorer, but it had three players who scored in double figures. Forward Mfiondu Kabengele scored a team-high 14 points and added 11 rebounds.

Mizzou’s Michael Porter Jr. came off the bench for the second straight game and scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds. Senior guard Kassius Robertson single-handedly helped the Tigers make a second-half run. He scored a game-high 19 points, including six three pointers.

Mizzou simply ran out of gas, as it had only eight players available for the game.

FSU advances to play No. 1 seed Xavier Sunday.
