Jon Sundvoid isn’t backing down from his lofty prediction, instead, he’s doubling down on his belief that Barry Odom will lead the Tigers to the SEC East title in 2019.

If you missed it two weeks ago when the NCAA Committee on Infractions announced it was imposing a one-year bowl ban on Missouri, Sundvoid, the school’s Chair of the UM System Board of Curators, provided a statement slamming the decision. He finished his statement, which can be read in full here, with a bold take:

“As our appeal moves forward, I appreciate the support of the SEC and Commissioner Greg Sankey. When Mizzou wins the SEC East next year, he should do the right thing and invite one of its good standing members to play in the SEC Championship game.

Now that he’s had time to cool off, you might think Sundvoid has backed off that bold prediction. However, if you thought that, you’d be wrong.

In a video released by Mizzou Athletics, Sundvoid explains why he believes the NCAA’s punishment was inappropriate. In the clip, he also doubles down on his SEC East title prediction while speaking to Odom’s team.
