When Mizzou DL Terry Beckner Jr. is on the field, he looks like a player who would be right at home playing on Sundays.

However, staying healthy has been a problem for the former 5-star recruit during his career with the Tigers. As a freshman in 2015, he tore his ACL and missed the rest of the season. As a sophomore last year, he tore his other ACL and was once again out for the year.

Heading into 2017, Beckner is understandably eager to put his injury woes in the past. He told KansasCity.com that he’s feeling good after another long rehab process and wants to stay on the field for the entire 2017 campaign:

“Without a doubt, the second time was way easier than the first one,” Beckner said. “The second time, I already had been through it and knew what was going to happen and what wasn’t going to happen.

“It made me a lot stronger, so everything I do now I just attack it. I don’t want that to happen again.”

Second-year Mizzou coach Barry Odom is certainly excited to have the star lineman back in action and has been impressed with what he’s seen from Beckner so far:

“I saw a couple things (Thursday) that were off-the-charts good,” Odom said. “Now, we’ve got to do it day-to-day, back-to-back and become consistent. His quickness seemed like it was back and he’s a lot more explosive now than he’s ever been.”

In parts of two seasons with the Tigers, Beckner has 51 total tackles (10 for loss) and three sacks. If he can stay on the field this fall, he could best all of those numbers.
