Mizzou’s secondary had some question marks going into the 2016 season, but the unit has performed well so far.

One big reason for that is sophomore S Cam Hilton, who is now listed as the co-starter at strong safety alongside Anthony Sherrils.

According to The Kansas City Star, Hilton is being reward for the big plays he makes when he’s on the field:

“He just makes plays,” Tigers safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Ryan Walters said. “Every time he’s been on the field, he’s been productive.”

Walters complimented Hilton’s ability to just go out and play football:

“He is very instinctual,” Walters said. “He’s still got to grow as far as Xs and Os and the details of this game and take ownership of doing extra, but he’s started to do that, which is why he’s played well when he’s gotten in there.”

Mizzou’s secondary will have to play well and limit LSU QB Danny Etling Saturday night in order to pull off an upset victory at Death Valley.
