Mizzou’s secondary has been opportunistic this season, grabbing an SEC-leading 10 interceptions (to match Florida) through six games.

However, the Tigers will face a tough test on Saturday afternoon against Middle Tennessee.

Brent Stockstill, the Blue Raiders’ quarterback, has already thrown for a whopping 2,091 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Stockstill drew the praise of Mizzou coach Barry Odom, according to KansasCity.com:

“He’s an unbelievable talent who’s got such a quick release,” Odom said. “He’s just a great competitor, and you don’t see many incomplete passes. He makes a lot of right decisions.”

However, CB John Gibson, who is tied with CB Aarion Penton for the team lead in interceptions with three, said the secondary is excited to face the strong aerial attack:

“They throw the ball a lot, a whole lot, more than anybody we’ve seen this season,” senior cornerback John Gibson said. “We’re looking forward to the challenge and, hopefully, we can get our hands on a few of them.”

Mizzou and Middle Tennessee will kick off at 3 p.m. Central time on Saturday afternoon. The game can be seen on the SEC Network.
