Heading into the 2018 season, Missouri QB Drew Lock is getting some serious hype as a potential first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The strong-armed Tiger still has some work to do, but NFL teams will love the kind of numbers he’s put up during his career at Mizzou.

On Tuesday, NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his early scouting report on Lock, and made an interesting NFL comparison for him. Jeremiah sees a lot of former Texas Tech, and current Kansas City Chiefs, QB Patrick Mahomes when he watches Lock play:

I see a lot of similarities to Patrick Mahomes when he was coming out of Texas Tech. Both guys have big arms and move around really well. They can extend plays with their athleticism and fit balls into tiny windows. However, like Mahomes, Lock needs to be more judicious with the football and cut down on the mistakes that are a result of overaggressiveness.

Mahomes has been handed the keys to the Kansas City offense this offseason after sitting behind Alex Smith last year.

If Lock can enter a similar situation when it’s his turn to head off to the NFL, the sky is the limit for one of the best quarterbacks in Mizzou history.
