Whether it’s in April or May (the NFL has two different potential dates for the 2015 draft), Missouri fans can expect to feel deja vu.

If the big board of ESPN’s Todd McShay is any indication, the Tigers will see both their starting defensive ends get drafted after this season.

McShay ranked Shane Ray as the 14th-best overall NFL prospect for 2015, making Ray a candidate to get drafted in the top half of the first round.

Here’s what McShay wrote about Ray.

Ray has a bit of a tweener frame right now, with below-average height and a lean build, but he has elite speed for the position. He explodes off the line with his first step, quick feet and hands and effective spin move, and he has a relentless motor. He has initial pop but needs to improve his ability to convert speed to power. He’s an active and disruptive force against the run, making a lot of plays in pursuit, but his lean frame and lack of strength limits his effectiveness against the run overall.

Ray, listed at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, made Bruce Feldman’s annual list of college football’s biggest freaks.

Many expect fellow defensive end Markus Golden, not Ray, to be the player most likely to collect accolades this season. Golden made second-team All-SEC this preseason, according to the coaches, and his 13.0 tackles for loss last season were one less than second-round pick Kony Ealy.

Mel Kiper Jr. didn’t list either Golden or Ray on his initial big board.

Golden is a redshirt senior, but Ray has one year of eligibility left beyond 2015. I suppose Tigers fans can hope that Ray decides he needs another year to develop an NFL-ready frame. But it appears that Missouri will be replacing both of its starting defensive ends once again in 2015.

That’s a bad sign, though, for opposing quarterbacks.
