Report: Hugh Freeze not a candidate for OC vacancy at Missouri
It is being reported that one high-profile name is not being considered for the open OC position at Missouri.
The Tigers are looking for a new OC following Josh Heupel’s departure to take the head coaching position at UCF. He had spent each of the last two seasons leading the Missouri offense and helped turn QB Drew Lock into a potential first-round draft pick. Lock has put up strong numbers in back-to-back seasons and set an SEC single-season record with 43 passing TDs in 2017.
Finding the right OC quickly could impact Lock’s decision on whether to enter the upcoming NFL Draft. As a junior, Lock has one year of eligibility remaining, but he could turn pro on the heels of a remarkable season.
It remains to be seen who the Tigers will land for the OC position, but Gabe DeArmond shared the report Monday that former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is not a candidate. He even went a step further and indicated that he does not expect Freeze to wind up at an SEC school for the 2018 season based on the information he has received.
Multiple sources indicate to me Hugh Freeze is not in play for the offensive coordinator opening at #Mizzou. Based on my info, I don’t expect Freeze to be in the SEC next season.

Freeze posted a 39-25 overall record with the Rebels in five seasons, but he resigned leading up to the 2017 season amidst allegations of wrongdoing. It remains to be seen when and where Freeze will coach again.
