Redshirt junior defensive end Shane Ray is just two games away from concluding what has been a record-breaking season.

Ray has recorded 13 sacks on the season, which leads the SEC and also broke a school record for sacks in a single season.

Despite these incredible numbers, Ray was weirdly left out as a finalist for both the Nagurski and Lombardi awards today.

The Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the nation’s best defensive player while the Lombardi Award recognizes the top lineman or linebacker in college football.

Missouri’s dominant defensive lineman was a semifinalist for both trophies, missed the final cut when the awards are narrowed down to five and four players, respectively.

The snub may mean bad news for Missouri’s next two opponents as they surely don’t want to face an even more motivated Shane Ray along the line of scrimmage.
