Chad Kelly has received important news in his NFL Draft prep as Dr. James Andrews has now cleared him to take part in Ole Miss Pro Day.

The opportunity to work out and throw at Pro Day is especially important for Kelly after the NFL rescinded his invitation to the league’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. The NFL originally invited Kelly to the event in which draft prospects work out and interview with teams, but changed its mind after further investigating his involvement in altercation outside a Buffalo bar. Kelly’s lawyers were able to avoid criminal charges, but the NFL rejected the “good lawyering” and made its judgements based on accounts of the altercation.

Kelly reportedly considering traveling to Indianapolis and meeting with teams outside of the Combine, but ultimately decided to stay home and continue rehabbing his torn ACL and preparing himself for Pro Day.

Missing the combine has undoubtedly hurt Kelly’s draft stock, but if the right team decides to roll the dice on the Ole Miss quarterback with a mid-round pick, one analyst thinks that team could be getting the next Dak Prescott.

Ole Miss Pro Day is scheduled for April 3.
