The Deuce is loose once again in New Orleans.

Former Ole Miss and New Orleans running back Deuce McAllister was named as the Saints new color analyst for the Saints Radio Network Wednesday night:

McAllister will be joined in the booth by play by play announcer Jim Henderson. McAllister is taking over for 15-year color analyst Hokie Gajan, who sadly passed away this offseason.

“Hokie and the Saints are synonymous, to be given the opportunity to follow someone so entrenched in the history and tradition of Saints football, I’m grateful,” McAllister said according to WWLAMFM. “If you can’t play the game, what’s more exciting than calling a game?  Everybody loves Saints football, and everybody listens to WWL…it’s a win-win situation!”

Both Saints head coach Sean Peyton and general manager Mickey Loomis were both pleased to welcome McAllister back into a role with the organization.

“We’re excited,” said Payton. “I’m excited for him and the Saints fans….This is one of those, I don’t want to say ‘no-brainers,’ but it makes a lot of sense.”

“Deuce was a great player for the Saints. He was a great representative of the organization,” said Loomis. “He’ll do a great job. He’ll do a great job because he’s really smart. He’s really articulate. He will have an insight and lend an insight that will be really valuable for our fans.”

In his four-year Ole Miss career, McAllister rushed for 3,181 yards and an incredible 38 touchdowns in Oxford. After spending his entire eight-year NFL career with the Saints, McAllister racked up 6,096 yards and 49 touchdowns on the ground for New Orleans.
