Former Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt was an instrumental figure in getting Hugh Freeze to step down from his job in Oxford last month. While many may assume Nutt was satisfied with that eventual outcome, he claims otherwise.

Of course, Freeze would likely be the head coach in Oxford today had Nutt not filed a federal lawsuit against Ole Miss and Freeze this summer. During the process of acquiring information by Nutt’s attorney, it was discovered that Freeze had placed a call to an escort service. This finding led Ole Miss to dig deeper into Freeze’s phone records and eventually led to the coach walking away from roughly $16 million remaining on his contract with the school.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM College Radio, Nutt said he didn’t take joy in costing Freeze his job in Oxford.

The irony in this story isn’t lost on Arkansas fans, as it was Nutt’s phone records that eventually led to his resignation in Fayetteville back in 2007 after 10 years with the school.
